About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Solve complex and technically demanding structural engineering problems
- Consider dynamic load effects from seismic, blast and impact hazards
- Analyze structural response and failure mechanisms, including ductility, nonlinear buckling and soil-structure interaction
- Research methodologies, challenge assumptions and develop solutions from first principles
- Develop and rigorously validate complex analysis models
- Provide fully evidenced and justified technical work for independent third-party review and nuclear safety regulators
- Work on long-term infrastructure improvement projects involving reinforced concrete structures, plated steel structures, maritime structures and specialized submarine facilities
- Plan projects across disciplines and support project delivery and financial performance
- Deliver technical quality and excellence in project outputs
- Provide technical and professional guidance, support and development to junior engineers and technicians
- Adhere to and contribute to business and quality management systems
- Support operational and design safety and develop a strong safety culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Good all-round technical design expertise using British and/or Eurocodes
- Proven ability to manage projects and prepare project deliverables, including managing quality, budget, programme and resources
- Good, accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar, or Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
- Knowledge of dynamic load effects from seismic, blast and impact hazards
- Understanding of ductility, nonlinear buckling and soil-structure interaction
- Ability to work with complex analysis models and rigorous validation
- Commitment to operational and design safety
- Ability to work from a hybrid UK base office
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer qualification, where applicable
