About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct medical-intelligence analysis of worldwide health, medical, biological, biosecurity, and biosafety issues affecting the US PACOM AOR
- Assess foreign medical capabilities, emerging diseases, biological warfare and bioterrorism threats, medical research, and scientific or technological developments
- Fuse classified intelligence, medical reporting, scientific research, public-health data, open sources, and partner reporting
- Identify indicators, trends, anomalies, intelligence gaps, and implications for force health, readiness, and mission risk
- Maintain awareness of US PACOM plans and operations; assess and forecast medical-intelligence implications for current and anticipated missions
- Serve as the DST interface with J2, DIA, NCMI, and other Intelligence Community organizations
- Produce assessments and briefings consistent with analytic standards, classification requirements, and dissemination controls
- Provide findings to the Operations Planner for integration with epidemiology, CBRNE analysis, Force Health Protection, and operational plans
- Participate in intelligence exchanges, working groups, exercises, and bilateral or multilateral biosurveillance activities
- Test the Biosurveillance Information Platform and provide intelligence-specific findings for Military Utility Assessments and recommendations
- Translate intelligence-user needs into requirements for technical feeds, dashboards, alerts, and workflows; coding is not required
- Support the US PACOM Command Surgeon’s Decision Support Team as its senior medical-intelligence specialist and primary interface with the US PACOM J2 intelligence enterprise
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, or equivalent education, intelligence training, military education, and directly related experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to complete a polygraph examination if required
- US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance
- Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible intelligence analysis, including at least 2 years conducting medical intelligence analysis
- Medical-intelligence experience involving health threats, foreign medical capabilities, emerging diseases, biological threats, or scientific and technical intelligence
- Working knowledge of DIA analytic tradecraft, product standards, and style requirements
- Knowledge of Intelligence Community Directives 203 and 206
- Ability to fuse medical, scientific, and intelligence information into products suitable for senior Department of War leaders
- Familiarity with military planning and ability to work with military planners
- Strong analytic writing, briefing, and classified-information handling skills
- Preferred: Advanced Degree
- Preferred: Medical-intelligence experience within the last 5 years; MIDB/MARS or comparable database experience
- Preferred: Education or professional experience in medicine, biology, epidemiology, public health, microbiology, or another health field
- Preferred: Combatant Command, JIOC, DIA, NCMI, biosafety, or biological-research-facility experience
- Preferred: Indo-Pacific experience and familiarity with AI-enabled tools, Maven Smart System, or biosurveillance platforms
- Preferred: Knowledge of global infectious diseases, endemic pathogens, BSL-3/BSL-4, emerging dual-use biotechnology, biological warfare doctrine, weaponization methods, bioterrorism threat vectors, foreign medical infrastructure, health surveillance capabilities, foreign military medical readiness, ICD 203/206, NCMI operations, Joint Staff and CCMD intelligence structures, Indo-Pacific public health and biosecurity policies, regional adversaries’ S&T modernization, life sciences research, FHP policies, JOPP, and OPLANs/CONPLANs
