About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the principal network authority and Lead Network Integrator for the Next Generation Environment on the IRES contract
- Drive architecture, modernization, and cross-performer technical governance of MDA’s unified digital ecosystem
- Lead a team of network engineers and interface with the Government NGE Technical Director, Government Network Design Lead, MDA leadership, and industry partners
- Establish and enforce technical baselines across Cisco Nexus Spine-Leaf EVPN-VxLAN fabrics, VMware NSX networks, Versa SD-WAN, F5 application delivery controllers, and Infoblox enterprise DDI
- Align network technical roadmaps and Interface Control Documents among government stakeholders, military leadership, and industry performers
- Translate mission capability needs into network architecture roadmaps, technical baseline decisions, and engineering trade studies
- Oversee technical assignments, design reviews, peer code/configuration audits, and engineering deliverables
- Architect scalable multi-site data center fabrics using Cisco Nexus NX-OS, Spine-Leaf topologies, and EVPN-VxLAN overlays
- Integrate VMware NSX/VCF for software-defined networking and distributed micro-segmentation
- Design enterprise load balancing, traffic distribution, SSL offloading/decryption, and high-availability application routing using F5 BIG-IP LTM/GTM/APM
- Architect WAN transport and secure branch interconnects using Versa SD-WAN/SASE, MPLS, and zero-trust edge controls
- Govern IPAM, DNS resolution, and DHCP provisioning using Infoblox DDI and hybrid-cloud orchestration pipelines
- Define network segmentation, micro-segmentation, ICAM integration, dynamic policy enforcement, and FIPS-validated cryptography
- Align designs with DoW Zero Trust Strategy, NIST SP 800-53, and DISA STIGs to support continuous ATO
- Lead Network Architecture Review Boards and Engineering Change Boards
- Establish HLDs, LLDs, ADRs, and ICDs using MBSE concepts
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12 or more years of general (full-time) work experience; may be reduced with completion of advanced education
- 6 or more years of directly related experience designing and leading large-scale enterprise or DoW networks across data center, WAN/backbone, campus/branch domains
- 1 or more years of experience working in a management or leadership role
- Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EVPN VXLAN and/or MPLS, QoS, IPv6, multicast, and network resiliency patterns
- Demonstrated success implementing Zero Trust segmentation, 802.1X/NAC, identity-aware firewall policy, and FIPS-validated cryptography
- Familiarity with hybrid/multi-cloud networking patterns and IL4/5/6 operational constraints; strong grasp of RMF/STIG compliance
- Current IAT III or IAM II baseline certification, such as CISSP, CASP+ CE, or CISM
- Active DoW Secret Security Clearance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to brief senior leaders and translate technical concepts into mission impact
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or Information Technology (desired)
- Experience with ITIL, TOGAF, or other architecture frameworks (desired)
- Experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency or other DoW organizations (desired)
- Experience with software-defined networking, automation, and cross-domain solutions (desired)
- Desired certifications include CCIE, CCNP or equivalent expert credentials, ITIL 4 Foundation, architecture framework credentials, and AWS/Azure associate-level cloud networking certifications
