About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Solve complex and technically demanding civil/structural engineering problems
- Analyse dynamic load effects from seismic, blast and impact hazards
- Evaluate structural response and failure mechanisms, including ductility, nonlinear buckling and soil-structure interaction
- Research methodologies, challenge assumptions and develop solutions from first principles
- Validate complex analysis models and provide evidence for independent third-party review and nuclear safety regulators
- Plan, deliver and manage financial performance of interdisciplinary projects
- Ensure technical quality and excellence of project deliverables
- Provide technical and professional guidance, support and development to junior engineers and technicians
- Contribute to business and quality management systems
- Support operational and design safety and develop a strong safety culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Good all-round technical design expertise using British/Eurocodes, ideally in heavy industrial scale structures
- Proven ability to manage projects and prepare project deliverables, including quality, budget, programme and resources
- Proven ability to prepare bids and proposals and develop good working relationships with clients
- Good, accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar, or Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
