About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the technical anchor and point person for the database administration team
  • Support the Missile Defense Agency on the IRES contract
  • Oversee and integrate a complex, multi-platform database environment
  • Coordinate with database administrators, developers, and business owners to define database requirements
  • Guide database operation in cloud and containerized infrastructure
  • Research and test new database technologies for application lifecycle fit
  • Serve as a technical coordinator and mentor for DBAs
  • Ensure databases operate securely and efficiently
  • Work day shift and travel up to 10% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6 or more years of general full-time work experience; may be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • 3 or more years of directly related experience
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle, DB2, Cassandra, MongoDB, and SQL database platforms
  • Experience running databases in the cloud using AWS and Azure
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration, including Kubernetes and Docker
  • Ability to act as a technical coordinator and mentor for a team of DBAs
  • Background in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimizing queries across different database types
  • Experience setting up backup and disaster recovery strategies, managing capacity, and running audits
  • Strong understanding of database security policies and enterprise network enforcement
  • Current Security+ certification
  • Active DoW Secret Security Clearance
  • Advanced SQL query optimization skills
  • Oracle WebLogic experience, including deploying, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting
  • Experience working on government or defense contracts or in similarly regulated enterprise environments
