About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver engineering solutions across civil, structural, geotechnical, seismic, and maritime disciplines
- Contribute to nationally significant Defence-sector infrastructure programmes
- Work across the full project lifecycle, from early concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction support
- Produce and review high-quality technical deliverables
- Ensure alignment with relevant standards, client requirements, and best practice
- Maintain focus on quality, safety, and constructability
- Resolve complex engineering challenges using a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- Support management of project scope, programme, budget, and resources
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, colleagues, and clients
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Support and develop early-career engineers
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Ports and Maritime capability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE)
- Strong understanding of core engineering principles and their practical application
- Demonstrable experience in civil and structural design
- Ability to apply British Standards and Eurocodes effectively in practice
- Proven experience in ports, maritime, or related heavy civil engineering sectors
- Ability to translate technical knowledge into solutions for complex, real-world challenges
- Familiarity with PIANC and OCIMF guidance
- Experience in structural dynamics concepts and their practical application
- Awareness of, or experience in, Information Management systems
- Experience in the use or development of finite element structural analysis software, such as STAAD.Pro or SAP2000
- Understanding of geotechnical principles, with experience or exposure to WALLAP and PLAXIS
- Awareness of NEC3/4 ECC contracts and their application within project delivery environments
