About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in the structural design process
- Assist in developing BIM models, design drawings, and construction documents for steel, concrete, and masonry structures
- Support design challenges and infrastructure projects across the United States
- Follow established quality procedures and ensure work is procedurally compliant
- Resolve interdisciplinary model clashes at a basic level
- Detail steel and concrete drawings
- Interpret engineering calculations
- Coordinate 3D models using tools such as Navisworks
- Work near construction equipment and hazardous machinery when in the field
- Travel occasionally, including quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge office for remote employees
- Maintain a secure, company-approved remote workspace within the United States
Requirements
What you’ll need- Sole US citizenship required
- 12+ years of industrial, commercial, and/or nuclear projects experience
- Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure procedural compliance
- Competence using Microsoft Office software
- Ability to learn new software as necessary
- Experience using Revit and/or Tekla for BIM modeling and drawing production
- Working knowledge of AISC, ACI, IBC, and related industry design standards
- Ability to resolve interdisciplinary model clashes at a basic level
- Experience detailing steel and concrete drawings
- Ability to interpret engineering calculations
- Experience with 3D model coordination, such as Navisworks
- Must maintain a company-approved secure workspace meeting client security requirements within the United States for remote work
- Preferred: Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Preferred: Background in Oil and Gas, Power Generation, Chemical Plants, or Manufacturing Facilities
- Preferred: Knowledge of connection design and fabrication drawing creation
- Preferred: Mentoring and staff development experience
- Preferred: Leading teams of designers to project completion and delivery
- Preferred: Ability to implement design changes due to constructability
- Preferred: Ability to interpret structural analysis software outputs
