About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage structural engineers and drafters through project planning, execution, and construction
- Provide complete structural design solutions from concept through final design and construction
- Apply design loads using applicable building and design codes
- Design and analyze structures using hand calculations and finite element analysis
- Develop engineering calculation packages covering static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses
- Oversee development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings
- Develop construction bid packages with calculations, specifications, and drawings
- Review subcontractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings
- Perform inspections at fabrication shops and construction sites
- Provide leadership for junior engineers and drafter/designers
- Coordinate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines through presentations, reports, studies, design reviews, and training
- Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet budgets and schedules
Requirements
What you’ll need- US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations
- BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems
- Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry, with an emphasis on seismic design
- Proficiency in finite element modeling using STAAD and/or ANSYS software or equivalent
- Proficiency in building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small team of structural engineers and drafters
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- PE license preferred
- SE license preferred
- Experience designing structures or equipment using ANSYS and/or the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code highly desirable
- Experience designing structures or equipment subject to dynamic loading, blast loading, and UFC Codes highly desirable
