About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise, monitor, coach, and advise operating and management personnel regarding company safety policies, procedures, and programs
  • Provide leadership to improve safety performance and drive personal accountability for safety
  • Assist operating groups with planning, conducting, and evaluating safety meetings
  • Support employee safety committees
  • Interpret federal and state safety regulations and recommend compliance methods
  • Conduct field safety observations and communicate follow-up actions
  • Provide positive and constructive safety coaching
  • Analyze safety-related incidents to prevent recurrences
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze statistical data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Assist with injury and illness prevention and hazard recognition programs
  • Assist with safety recognition programs
  • Lead safety projects and initiatives addressing high-risk areas or injury experience
  • Collaborate with Customer Operations safety personnel
  • Provide support during outages, storms, and other emergencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Safety or a related field
  • Five or more years of safety related experience required
  • For Sr. Safety Supervisor: Bachelor's degree with five or more years of experience, or master's degree in Safety or related field with three or more years of experience required
  • For Sr. Safety Supervisor: Five or more years of experience in safety or a related field required
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory safety standards
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and self direct work activities with little direct supervision
  • Ability to participate in a geographically dispersed team environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and human relations skills
  • Ability to support major storm response activities involving long hours over multiple days, plus travel out of supported territory
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety related certification preferred
  • Advance degree in Safety preferred
