About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee design, distribution, and back-end functioning of monthly community newsletters and ACLS announcements
  • Manage distribution lists, segments, engagement data, and strategies to enhance engagement
  • Update and develop branding elements and templates for Mailchimp
  • Identify and schedule WordPress fixes and site enhancements with the Chief Communications Officer and web development partner
  • Track and assess site content performance and architecture and create and manage redirect links
  • Manage awardee records and other CRM integration content
  • Manage content ownership maps and lead universal updates
  • Provide technical assistance to staff users
  • Represent Communications at weekly technology meetings with vendors
  • Develop paid social media and third-party advertising plans with program and fundraising teams
  • Design basic advertisements and graphics in Canva and coordinate complex materials with external designers
  • Assess and present advertising campaign performance and recommendations
  • Develop and implement social media strategies across Facebook, BlueSky, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Produce, schedule, and assess daily social media content
  • Develop social media toolkits for ACLS members, Fellows, and partners
  • Track and report social media outreach effectiveness
  • Monitor social media news and trends related to ACLS’s mission and programs
  • Produce audience-facing marketing collateral and direct external designers
  • Maintain ACLS brand templates and standards
  • Coordinate video shoots and content development with external vendors
  • Capture event photography as needed
  • Support visual brand management, signage, publications, and staff resources
  • Draft select external communications
  • Present projects to staff and leadership
  • Document communications processes and policies
  • Provide general administrative support and other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years experience in communications, content marketing, editorial, or journalism, ideally in a mission-driven or higher education context
  • Fluent with third-party marketing tools including WordPress, Mailchimp, Sprout Social, Microsoft Office, Teams
  • Strong experience as a cross-functional collaborator with demonstrated ability to work across units, subject-matter experts, marketing, and partners
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build, track, and adjust cross-departmental project timelines
  • Ability to meet deadlines and clearly document and refine processes and systems
  • Ability to produce content quickly and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Canva experience required
  • Adobe Creative Cloud and HTML experience a strong plus
  • Strong eye for design and experience directing external designers
  • Ability to create simple assets quickly and maintain brand templates and standards
  • Experience using DSLR cameras and capturing basic event photography
  • Familiarity with video production basics and working with photo and video vendors
  • Familiarity with the higher education landscape is a plus
  • Must live within commuting distance of New York City
