About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Integrate, optimize, and operationalize AI capabilities within the security operations center
  • Design and enhance fusion center capabilities by integrating cross-domain intelligence and improving enterprise-wide situational awareness
  • Develop and deploy AI models for alert triage, prioritization, and anomaly detection
  • Design, implement, and maintain AI-driven detection and response capabilities within the SOC
  • Analyze large-scale security telemetry to identify patterns, threats, and detection-improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with SOC analysts, detection engineers, and data teams on AI-assisted decision making
  • Integrate AI-driven enrichment and correlation into existing security tooling
  • Automate repetitive SOC tasks using AI and scripting
  • Create dashboards and metrics to measure SOC performance improvements
  • Support AI-assisted investigation workflows and SOC copilots
  • Develop approaches to identify trends, risks, and actionable insights from security and physical/cybersecurity data
  • Monitor model performance and reduce false positives and false negatives
  • Partner with data engineers on data ingestion, normalization, and feature engineering
  • Document AI use cases, workflows, and operational playbooks
  • Stay current on emerging threats, adversary tactics, and advances in AI for cybersecurity
  • Lead complex security assignments, assessments, implementations, problem solving, and technical direction; mentor team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced experience with machine learning, data science or AI applications in security
  • Ability to analyze threat patterns and assess enterprise impact
  • Hands on experience with SIEM platforms
  • Experience with scripting or programming
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, MITRE ATLAS and common adversary tactics and techniques
  • Exposure to SOAR platforms and security automation workflows
  • Experience working with large datasets, log analysis, or telemetry pipelines
  • Strong interpersonal, investigative, and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and high-pressure environments
  • Active or eligible for SECRET DoD clearance
  • Certifications listed: SANS GCIA, GCIH, GAIPS, GASAE, GOAA; CAISP; Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer; AWS Certified Machine Learning; IBM Certified AI Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree OR Associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security OR High School Diploma/GED with 3 or 4 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security, depending on level
  • Graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program may qualify
  • Non-degree qualifications, such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment, may qualify
  • Minimum experience varies by level: 1+ years security-related experience or 2+ years IT-related experience for Security Spec Sr; 2+ years security-related experience or 4+ years IT-related experience for Security Spec Prin; 5+ years security-related experience or 7+ years IT-related experience for Security Spec Lead; 8+ years security-related experience or 10+ years IT-related experience for Security Spec Staff
