About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform intermediate-level engineering work activities and projects
- Apply engineering knowledge and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete analyses
- Analyze systems and component equipment and recommend business process enhancements
- Coordinate work activities with teams and corporate entities
- Perform routine engineering activities with minimal direction
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
- Forecast costs for routine projects and improvement requisitions
- Use CPM, PERT, flow charts, and other scheduling techniques for budgeting and planning
- Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not met
- Resolve routine problems and identify issues beyond normal routines
- Develop, review, and present technical reports, studies, and analyses
- Identify stakeholders, build consensus, resolve conflicts, and network across the AEP system
- Make team-impacting decisions within established policies and procedures
- Apply economic analysis techniques and develop understanding of utility regulation and financing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program and two or more years of related engineering experience
- Master's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program may qualify for entry at this level
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology plus a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Alternative: Bachelor's degree in non-ABET engineering plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor's program
- Intermediate-level engineering knowledge and analytical skills
- Ability to understand relationships between systems and component equipment
- Ability to analyze and recommend business process enhancements
- Ability to coordinate work activities and provide training and guidance
- Knowledge of scheduling techniques, including CPM, PERT, and flow charts
- Ability to prepare and present technical reports
- Understanding of budgeting, approval processes, economic analysis, utility regulation, and financing
- Must not require visa sponsorship; position is not eligible for OPT
