About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate assigned AEP construction projects in AEP service territory
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities safely, efficiently, and economically
  • Inspect work and monitor compliance with safety, environmental policies, specifications, drawings, and permits
  • Coordinate activities of employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies
  • Support contractor pre-mobilization and work-plan development
  • Coordinate with project management and engineering/design to issue construction drawings
  • Resolve design conflicts involving field constraints and assist with Requests for Information
  • Integrate construction activities with plant operating and outage schedules
  • Adjust construction needs based on schedule, budget changes, and as-found conditions
  • Identify field-purchased material needs and support procurement
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor workmanship and schedule adherence
  • Address material nonconformance and rework issues
  • Create extra work orders and back-charge documents; track timesheets and provide schedule information
  • Verify and approve daily time, material, and equipment sheets for applicable contracts
  • Provide training and guidance to support team goals
  • Analyze situations, recommend and take action with supervisors, and promptly inform supervisors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in a related field such as Construction Management or Engineering Technology from an accredited college, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience; or high school diploma/GED plus at least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in industrial construction projects, project management, project controls, fossil plant operations, labor negotiations, skilled industrial construction work, or related experience
  • Ability to function in multi-discipline teams
  • Ability to develop leadership, team building, meeting management, written and verbal communication, business acumen, strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment, prioritization, conflict management, and scope management skills
  • Ability to coordinate complex outages, projects, and assignments safely, efficiently, and economically
  • Willingness to accept field assignments
  • Extensive travel required and possible relocation
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials
  • Position may require extended hours
  • Must support AEP safety policies and ethically sound behavior
