About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform intermediate-level mechanical/structural engineering work and projects
- Apply engineering knowledge to accomplish assigned objectives safely, effectively, efficiently, and economically
- Conduct varied engineering assignments and extensive analyses
- Coordinate work activities within work groups, departments, or corporate entities
- Perform routine engineering activities with minimal direction
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
- Coordinate inputs for routine project cost forecasts and improvement requisitions
- Use CPM, PERT, flow charts, and other scheduling techniques for budgeting and planning
- Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not met
- Resolve routine engineering problems and identify issues beyond normal routine
- Develop, review, and present technical reports, studies, and analyses
- Collaborate with stakeholders, build consensus, and resolve conflicts
- Make team-affecting decisions within established policies and procedures
- Apply economic analysis techniques and develop understanding of utility regulation and financing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Two or more years of related engineering experience
- Master's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program may qualify for entry at this level
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology may satisfy the degree requirement with a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Acceptable alternative: non-ABET bachelor's degree in engineering plus a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited bachelor's program
- Knowledge of engineering theory and analytical techniques
- Ability to perform moderate-complexity analysis and understand system/component interrelationships
- Ability to analyze and recommend business-process enhancements
- Ability to use scheduling techniques including CPM, PERT, and flow charts
- Understanding of budgeting, approval processes, utility regulation, and financing
- Ability to prepare, review, and present technical reports
- Must follow company policies and external agency regulations
