About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate team activities and support Project Managers on major projects
- Perform scheduler and/or commodity tracker responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Develop and analyze complex and intermediate scope-of-work schedules using assigned systems
- Define activities, durations, sequences, relationship logic, and milestones for scope-of-work plans
- Ensure schedule logic, activities, scope, and deliverables meet customer requirements and internal standards
- Develop integrated system schedules with resource loading, leveling, and critical path methodology
- Mentor and assist junior schedulers with schedule review meetings and stakeholder coordination
- Prepare meeting minutes and action items
- Create schedules, provide schedule analysis updates, and identify schedule risks and milestone delays
- Communicate schedule status to project stakeholders
- Guide administration of AEP project management standards and support project management governance
- Work with the Administrator to assign security, profiles, and roles for new users
- Diagnose and resolve scope-of-work schedule issues
- Train junior schedulers on metric reports, schedule risk, what-if schedules, schedule crashing, procedures, and scheduling systems/software
- Perform or coordinate schedule and cost integration, including SPI/CPI processes
- Provide project risk assessments and recommended mitigation actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified degree in a related field from an accredited university or college, including Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management, depending on experience
- High school diploma or GED plus 7 years' qualified experience; for Cook Nuclear Plant, 7 years of nuclear experience will suffice and professional or trade certification is not required
- Qualified Associate's degree plus 5 years' qualified experience
- Qualified Bachelor's degree plus 3 years' qualified experience
- Professional or trade certification such as CCMP, CETa, IQCP, PMP, or RMP required for candidates with only a high school diploma or a non-qualified higher education degree; otherwise preferred but not required
- Utility-specific operations knowledge/experience and working knowledge of work processes and procedures
- Experience in design, operations, planning, project management, cost tracking analysis, forecasting, project budgets, accounting principles, and/or construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment
- Time management, organizational, planning, accuracy, attention to detail, and goal achievement skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work and collaborate well with others
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ability to develop complex spreadsheets
- Willingness to travel, including overnight; temporary relocation may occasionally be required
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and use current scheduling techniques and analyses
- Ability to safely perform light physical duties at various work sites and AEP locations
- Availability for overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as required
- Proficiency in reviewing scope, client requirements, division of responsibility, objectives, and constraints to develop project delivery strategies
- For nuclear positions, ability to work at nuclear power sites in hazardous areas with possible radiation exposure within NRC limits
- Ability to perform construction site walkdowns on unstable surfaces and climb ladders, as applicable
