About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and support direct and rebuttal testimony
- Respond to discovery requests and Commission audits
- Prepare witnesses and may testify on behalf of the company
- Facilitate organizational unit activities in specialized regulatory practice areas
- Prepare and present complex regulatory subjects and strategies to management and regulatory bodies
- Make complex decisions based on calculated risk and defend decisions made in the interest of the company
- Participate in and/or lead the use and development of analytical tools supporting regulatory planning and filings
- Use analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable recommendations
- Consult with others to identify, prioritize, and develop actionable recommendations
- Develop and present analysis and solutions supporting strategic initiatives
- Consult and collaborate with IT and others to optimize tools and analysis
- Support end-to-end case management across regulatory proceedings, including tracking milestones, deadlines, and deliverables
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs and internal review processes
- Facilitate communication across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Finance, Generation, Operations, Legal, and Engineering teams to develop filing inputs and positions
- Coordinate internal inputs for consistency across testimony, discovery, and supporting analyses
- Interpret regulatory needs and implement projects, analysis, and process work
- Address system-wide issues within specialized fields of expertise
- Anticipate, resolve, and initiate solutions to unique and specialized problems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND 4 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 8 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR High School diploma or GED AND 10 years relative field, operations or analytical experience
- Proficiency with spreadsheets is required
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy and provide guidance to management and witnesses on case, are required
- Must possess analytical problem solving skills
- Required to work mandatory "on-call" requirements over weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. as necessary to meet regulatory requirements, including filing dates required by the Company or as imposed by an applicable regulatory Commission
- Occasional travel will be required, such as to attend or testify at hearings, support witnesses at hearings, participate in Commission Staff and/or stakeholder meetings/events, advocate the Company's position in various federal, regional, or state venues, and attend training
- Expert level knowledge of regulatory matters for the applicable regulatory function performed
- Knowledge of economic and legal foundations of regulation; federal and state regulatory commission structures, processes, and roles; utility ratemaking and rate design; industry restructuring and deregulation; federal reliability compliance obligations; federal and state environmental compliance; and current legislative and regulatory policy issues impacting electric utilities
