About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as first point of contact for regulators, peer utilities’ regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders
- Ensure smooth flow of information between SWEPCO regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders
- Develop testimony and respond to discovery requests and audits
- Participate in witness preparation
- Prepare and present complex regulatory subjects and strategies to management and regulatory bodies
- Facilitate others’ regulatory tasks, including direct and rebuttal testimony, discovery responses, Commission audits, and witness preparation
- Facilitate organizational-unit activities related to specialized regulatory practice areas
- Interpret regulatory needs and implement projects and process work with measurable goals, objectives, and requirements
- Address company system-wide issues within the specialized field of expertise and review others’ planned work
- Identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to unique and specialized problems
- Develop opportunities, ideas, and approaches with system-wide impact
- Make complex decisions based on calculated risk and defend decisions made in the company’s interest
- Participate in or lead development and use of analytical tools for regulatory planning and filings
- Use analytical tools and data management skills to provide recommendations for regulatory planning and filings
- Consult with others to develop actionable recommendations
- Develop and present analyses and solutions supporting strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with IT and others to optimize tools and analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND 8 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 12 years relative field, operations or analytical experience OR High School diploma or GED AND 14 years relative field, operations or analytical experience
- Master's degree is preferred
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Professional Engineer, Legal degree, or similar Certification/license is preferred
- Proficiency with spreadsheets is required
- Proficient oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate strategy and provide guidance to management and witnesses on case, are required
- Must possess analytical problem-solving skills
- Required to work mandatory “on-call” requirements over weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. as necessary to meet regulatory requirements
- Occasional travel will be required to hearings, meetings, events, training, and other venues
