About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform complex engineering work activities and projects
- Apply engineering knowledge to accomplish assigned objectives safely, effectively, efficiently, and economically
- Keep abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
- Analyze interrelationships between systems and component equipment
- Interpret codes and regulations and develop relevant standards
- Provide guidance and direction to other engineers
- Lead, facilitate, and coordinate engineering work activities within and outside the organization
- Ensure work complies with company policies, standards, rules, regulations, and external agency procedures
- Promote engineering professionalism and standards
- Coordinate and conduct training sessions
- Develop plans, measurable goals, objectives, and requirements
- Coordinate project cost inputs and use CPM, PERT, and flow charts for scheduling
- Identify corrective actions when objectives are not met
- Identify and resolve routine and complex problems and develop new approaches
- Coordinate engineering work and prepare or review complex technical reports
- Lead and facilitate meetings
- Network across disciplines and leverage relationships to accomplish work
- Make decisions affecting department operations, plans, goals, and major projects
- Manage project budgets and assess impacts on expenses and revenues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically 4 or more years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in an ABET-accredited program
- Or 2 years of related engineering experience with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology acceptable if the candidate obtains a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Alternative: Bachelor's degree in non-ABET engineering plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited Bachelor's program
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred
- Ability to apply advanced engineering knowledge
- Knowledge of products, developments, technologies, procedures, equipment, systems, and component interrelationships
- Ability to interpret codes and regulations and develop standards
- Proficiency with scheduling techniques including CPM, PERT, and flow charts
- Ability to analyze complex or conflicting data and solve problems
- Ability to prepare technical reports for management, professional societies, and regulatory bodies
- Ability to manage project budgets using cost management techniques
- Ability to make decisions involving uncertain inputs, risks, conflicting interests, and limited precedents
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead teams
