About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate project meetings and project team activities
- Support Project Managers with project documentation and planning
- Prepare spending and cash-flow forecasts, monitor budget variances, and perform cost tracking and analysis
- Analyze and verify Sarbanes-Oxley activities and support annual budgets, capital forecasts, five-year plans, and improvement requisitions as needed
- Perform estimate-versus-actuals analysis
- Conduct variance reporting and establish time-phased baseline budgets
- Create project breakdown structures
- Track, analyze, and submit information for unvouchered liabilities
- Maintain current and complete project system records
- Coordinate work orders from creation through in-servicing and closing
- Assist with contracting and bidding activities, cost analysis, and cost tracking
- Communicate budgetary information with project teams, resources, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders
- Resolve moderately complex technical and project cost problems independently
- Develop and compile measurable KPIs for scope, budgeting, schedule performance, cost performance, and forecasting
- Administer AEP project/work management organizational standards and support project governance
- Provide training, guidance, mentoring, and development to lower-level Project Cost Analysts
- Lead continuous process improvements and recommend improvements to project and company performance
- Advise contractors, vendors, suppliers, and project cost controls team members and integrate project performance data into total project performance analysis
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED and 4 years' experience as a Project Cost Analyst (grade 006); or qualified Associate's degree and 6 years' qualified experience; or qualified Bachelor's degree and 4 years' qualified experience
- Qualified degree in a related field from an accredited university or college, including Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management
- Qualified experience in utility-specific operations, work processes and procedures, design, operations, planning, project management, cost tracking analysis, forecasting, project budgets, accounting principles, and/or construction or maintenance of systems and equipment
- Proficient in MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience with corporate accounting and project cost management systems, construction environments, earned value management, and scheduling systems
- Demonstrated time management, organizational, planning, accuracy, attention to detail, and goal-achievement skills
- Advanced technical knowledge related to written and verbal communication
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others and interface with individual contributors and management
- Some overnight travel may be required
- Ability to perform light physical duties at home and AEP work sites in varying conditions
- Availability for overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work may be required depending on business unit
- For nuclear positions, ability to work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within NRC-prescribed limits
