About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform siting activities for multi-million-dollar electric transmission line and substation projects
  • Ensure transmission siting activities comply with company standards and federal, state, and local regulations
  • Organize siting studies and proposed route selection activities to meet in-service dates and ensure compliance
  • Oversee outsourced siting and regulatory approval activities for transmission lines and substations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to identify buildable, cost-effective routes and facilities that minimize environmental impacts
  • Prepare environmental assessments and written siting studies
  • Coordinate regulatory and local zoning applications, including writing, exhibits, testimony, interrogatories, and schedules
  • Develop and monitor schedules, risks, and cost estimates for siting tasks
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and public open houses
  • Work in designated regions and states based on location

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field
  • Two–four (2–4) years’ total industry-related experience and/or education
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office computer applications is desired
  • Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to rent a vehicle
  • Ability to drive 3–6 hours at a time
  • Ability to hike or walk one to three miles on occasion
  • Travel requirements of 25–30% of the time
  • Overnight travel to facilities and projects is required
  • Ability to adhere to applicable safety procedures
  • May require extended hours to meet requirements and schedules
