About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate the origin and cause of homeowner property claims
- Contact insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation units, other adjusters, public personnel, and other parties
- Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed
- Handle 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements
- Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters
- Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files
- Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply them to assigned losses
- Provide claim process and status updates, answer questions, or redirect inquiries
- Work primarily in the field, spending approximately 80% of time interacting directly with customers
- Report to the Property Claim Manager
- Complete other assignments, job duties, or projects as required
- Attend occasional office-based team meetings, training, and cultural events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be located within the Chicagoland metro area
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
- Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims, or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages, or equivalent knowledge
- Solid knowledge and understanding of each phase of the claim handling process, or equivalent knowledge
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required
- Familiarity and experience with Xactimate preferred
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable
- Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles; moving through tight or confined spaces; and moving objects up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in outdoor, noisy, hazardous, poorly ventilated, and high- or low-temperature environments
- Offer contingent on applicable background checks
- Offer contingent on signing a non-disclosure agreement
