About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate and maintain property claims
- Secure information, review coverages, complete field inspections, and settle claims
- Handle moderately complex homeowner property field claims, typically within 2 hours of Cleveland, Ohio
- Occasionally handle desk claims
- Investigate claim origin and cause by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, investigators, adjusters and public personnel
- Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed
- Handle 1st-party and 3rd-party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements
- Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate settlements
- Respond to customer inquiries, make decisions, and close files as needed
- Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles and contract coverages
- Provide claim process and status updates and answer or redirect questions
- Complete other assignments and participate in projects as needed
- Report to the Property Claim Manager
- Travel to office locations occasionally for team meetings, training and culture events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
- Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims, or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages, or equivalent knowledge
- Solid knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process, or equivalent knowledge
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required
- Hands-on property field claims experience
- Proven ability to write clear, accurate, and timely estimates in Xactimate
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Ability to perform catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and similar structures
- Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and hazardous environments
- Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
- Offer contingent on applicable background checks
- Offer contingent on signing a non-disclosure agreement
