About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support reporters and editors producing business journalism
- Work with the longform/special projects team on the next season of the “How We Survive” climate solutions podcast
- Pitch and produce longform and special projects in the newsroom
- Participate in group edits and feedback sessions for special projects
- Assist the Managing Editor and Deputies in coordinating daily cross-newsroom communication and collaboration
- Assist reporters and editors in finding and interviewing sources
- Conceptualize and execute reporter-led stories
- Develop skills to file stories on deadline and produce narration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently enrolled in a college or university, or graduated within the past 18 months
- Available full-time (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) throughout the internship
- Ability to write clearly and accurately under strict deadlines and work independently
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products with the ability to learn new software programs
- Demonstrated interest in audio journalism
- Preferred: demonstrated interest in journalism, such as produced work for publication or work at a school newspaper/radio
- Preferred: self-starter with an appetite for learning audio skills
- Preferred: knowledge of audio and video editing software such as Audition, Adobe, or Final Cut
- Cover letter of no more than 1 page answering the specified application questions
- Must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
- Required to move about in an office environment and sit for extended periods
- Required to move about in the community
- Frequent use of hands for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping
