About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Access and troubleshoot building systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, chilled water, generators, and air handlers
- Determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require outsourcing to vendors
- Serve as primary vendor contact and liaison between vendors and the customer's facilities manager
- Operate, monitor, maintain, inspect, and support data center heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems
- Install, test, configure, and customize data center facility support systems
- Participate in projects to replace, repair, and maintain data center facility systems
- Provide vendor oversight and guidance and perform quality control on completed work
- Manage emergent situations and lead corrective actions through resolution with leadership
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable state and local standards
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials, confined-space, industrial hygiene, waste reduction, pesticide reduction, and recycling requirements
- Diagnose data center support equipment failures and restore equipment to normal operations
- Respond to after-hours calls and emergencies when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust (Tier 4)
- 5+ years of Facilities and Equipment experience in a datacenter, medical facility, or commercial setting
- Expertise in HVAC and environmental controls, security, safety systems, power, backup power systems, and smart building decision systems
- Skilled at determining electrical power requirements and performing hardware placement, installation, moves, replacement, and removal
- Ability to communicate technical subject matter expertise to management and others
- ITIL v4 foundation knowledge and experience based on the ITIL framework
- Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation models and practices
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Must be capable of directing personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers
- Exceptional customer service, time-management, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in confined areas and from heights, including climbing ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to move and handle heavy equipment, tools, and building materials
- Must present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver's license, U.S. Passport, or other approved document
