About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, organize, and conduct Combat Systems/Operations training and educational programs for personnel assigned to Littoral Combat Ships
- Conduct conventional knowledge-based classroom teaching and performance/scenario-based laboratory training
- Train LCS sailors in tactical employment of the Combat Management System, associated weapons systems, system capabilities and limitations, automated systems, mission planning and execution, and tactical communications
- Provide subject matter expertise for curriculum development of LCS courses
- Support the Train to Qualify and Train to Certify processes using shore-based trainers and dynamic assessment of watch standers during integrated scenarios
- Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides
- Support Formal Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conduct training gap analysis and provide feedback and recommendations for course improvement
- Develop, test, maintain, and deliver Navy Combat Systems training programs and related materials
- Establish and review course content and objectives
- Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating training effectiveness
- Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
- Provide primary instruction in LCS-2 Tactical Communicator, Combat Systems Manager, Tactical Action Officer Capstone, and LCS-2 Crew Certification Training
- Provide additional trainer support as Warfare Commander in scenario/lab-based training environments
- Provide secondary instruction in LCS-1 Capstone and LCS-1 Crew Certification Training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience
- Active Secret Clearance
- Minimum 5 years of experience in all facets of tactical warfare areas, including employment and management of Hard-Kill/Soft-Kill weapon systems, internal/external communications, and integration with Navy Surface, Air and Subsurface Warfare mission requirements
- At least 1+ years of experience in an Instructor/Trainer/Evaluator role in a Navy Training Environment
- Experience with curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and instruction results, and counseling students on academic learning problems
- Ability to support a second shift work schedule on a rotational basis
