About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work within the Office of the Undersecretary of War (Research and Engineering) focused on aircraft and air-launched weapon systems architectures, emerging capabilities, and technologies
- Engage with aircraft and air-launched weapon systems acquisition programs, prototyping efforts, and concepts
- Provide independent analysis of program status, technological maturation, and risk areas
- Analyze programs and characterize risks tied to program acquisition milestones
- Collaborate with programs across the Department of War to understand program plans, acquisition plans, technical approach and maturity, schedule, and risks
- Present program status to OUSW(R&E) leadership
- Communicate program status, issues, risks, and plans to executive leadership in narrative, briefing, and oral form
- Evaluate technology and engineering capabilities central to aircraft and air-launched weapon programs
- Assess how aircraft and air-launched weapon capabilities impact and support the Joint Warfighter
- Become an expert on assigned programs and technologies
- Develop and execute a tailored plan to facilitate DTE&A engagement
- Apply best practices from across DTE&A
- Integrate program analysis into the overall team view of Department of War aircraft and air-launched weapon systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 11+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Top Secret with SCI clearance
- Engineer familiar with Government test centers and Service systems development centers
- Experience conducting or assessing Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, including Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review
- Experience with Critical Technical Parameters, Technical Performance Measures, and Measures of Performance/Measures of Effectiveness
- Experience developing and/or reviewing Systems Engineering Plans
- Experience developing and/or reviewing Test and Evaluation Master Plans
- Recent work with emerging aircraft and air-launched weapon systems in Systems Engineering, Test and Evaluation, or aircraft/air-launched weapon system development and testing
- Technical and Test & Evaluation experience
- Digital Engineering tool experience desired
- Master's degree preferred
- Military Acquisition Professional optional
- USAF or USN Test Pilot School Graduate optional
