About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical support and documentation for the design, development, and evaluation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including power supply and propulsion systems
  • Research and develop ship propulsion systems, including diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and dynamic positioning system interfaces
  • Apply propulsion-system research to applicable designs and requirements
  • Develop system documentation and ship specifications
  • Design, develop, and evaluate operation of marine vessels and shipboard propulsion machinery
  • Review and develop technical data packages
  • Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements
  • Conduct and oversee trade studies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineer or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • Knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations
