About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist and provide guidance in defining software performance requirements and software design
- Provide testing support and facilitate communication between development teams and systems integration/testing entities
- Manage the software production backlog, prioritizing emerging needs, work in progress, bugs, and enhancements
- Capture and refine fleet feedback to drive future product development
- Validate iterative software against low-level requirements and acceptance criteria
- Perform problem analysis throughout development and integration
- Interact with in-development software systems and assess product changes and impacts on customer/user communities
- Attend IPT and CSCI-associated meetings
- Review software acquisition documents and coordinate document reviews for assigned CSCIs
- Identify and maintain risks, issues, and opportunities for assigned CSCIs
- Represent the software team at milestone software reviews
- Provide trip reports
- Advise on software development and testing techniques
- Perform software/design document audits
- Assess delivered software quality and compliance with software and cybersecurity best practices
- Ensure adherence to the configuration management plan and software risk mitigation plans
- Assist cost teams with software data for cost estimates
- Establish and enforce DevSecOps methodologies and practices
- Demonstrate new software capabilities to stakeholders and the development enterprise
- Coordinate with cyber, CI/CD, and fleet integration teams to develop, test, deploy, and maintain fieldable systems
- Decompose fleet-derived capabilities into features and establish acceptance criteria with fleet users and subject matter experts
- Define and track agile/development metrics and help translate them into reportable Software Acquisition Pathway outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; or technical/scientific degree with software engineering experience on DoD program(s)
- Junior or Journey level experience working engineering activities for a technology program
- Must have a Secret clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret if necessary
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to travel within CONUS up to 6 times per year
- Local to Pax River, NAS and able to make scheduled and ad hoc meetings in person
- Knowledge of software development environments and processes
- Experience implementing modern DevSecOps practices
- Experience in problem analysis during development and integration, including trade space management
- Experience with software development and sustainment programs, DoD acquisition programs, system requirements, DoD mission planning, Model Based Systems Engineering, Agile/Agile SAFe, cyber and system security, DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines, software architectures, networks, mobile platforms, containerization, software safety, testing, and accreditations is enhancing but not required
