About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, perform, and progress as an independent advisor
  • Participate in mentorship, observation, feedback, and hands-on development with the practice owner and team
  • Complete required study, licensing, registration, and development milestones
  • Build proficiency in financial planning concepts, client discovery, meeting preparation, recommendations, follow-through, and practice operations
  • Prepare for client meetings and gather, organize, and accurately enter client information
  • Help create financial planning deliverables and follow-up items
  • Communicate professionally and empathetically, resolve service needs, and coordinate client requests
  • Document interactions and maintain complete, accurate records
  • Support analysis of client goals, priorities, time horizons, and risk considerations
  • Assist with case preparation, planning scenarios, illustrations, and suitable recommendations under supervision
  • Help clients understand next steps and track progress
  • Monitor follow-ups and support periodic client reviews
  • Develop professional relationships and cultivate a network of prospective clients and centers of influence
  • Support and potentially lead referral strategies, educational events, seminars, community outreach, and client appreciation activities
  • Follow up with prospective clients and convert interest into planning conversations
  • Develop and execute growth initiatives aligned with practice strategy
  • Manage time, priorities, and business-development activity independently
  • Coordinate with the practice on client commitments, regulatory obligations, and shared growth goals
  • Identify opportunities to improve client service, workflows, quality, efficiency, and growth
  • Protect client trust and practice reputation through discretion, ethical conduct, and consistent follow-through

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability and commitment to obtain all required securities registrations and insurance licenses within the timelines established by the practice
  • Ability to satisfy all applicable registration, background, training, and continuing education requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and business-development skills
  • Technology proficiency and ability to learn financial planning and CRM systems
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience (preferred)
  • Experience in financial services, client service, consultative sales, business development, or other relationship-driven professions (preferred)
  • Current securities registrations and/or insurance licenses, including SIE, Series 7, Series 66, Life/Health, etc. (preferred)
  • Integrity and respect for client confidentiality
  • Service mindset and genuine interest in helping people make informed financial decisions
  • Personal accountability, resilience, initiative, and maturity to own outcomes
  • Curiosity, coachability, and discipline to study, practice, and improve
  • Entrepreneurial orientation and comfort contributing to referrals, events, networking, and business development
  • Organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfort operating with independence, ambiguity, and personal accountability
