About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the strategy, engineering, operations, automation, security, and modernization of enterprise middleware and container platforms
- Manage engineers delivering highly available, secure, and scalable platform services across traditional infrastructure and AWS cloud environments
- Own the enterprise middleware and container platform portfolio, including web servers, application servers, Kubernetes platforms, container images, and supporting infrastructure
- Define and execute platform roadmaps aligned with cloud modernization and enterprise technology strategies
- Ensure platform reliability, resiliency, scalability, and operational excellence
- Lead engineering and operational support for enterprise Kubernetes and AWS EKS platforms
- Drive migration of traditional middleware-hosted applications to cloud-native platforms
- Establish standardized deployment patterns, container images, CI/CD pipelines, and operational practices
- Manage Kubernetes cluster upgrades, capacity planning, security remediation, and observability
- Partner with application teams to onboard workloads onto cloud platforms
- Establish middleware configuration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance standards
- Drive automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, self-healing capabilities, and continuous improvement
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and service management processes
- Establish service-level objectives, operational metrics, and performance indicators
- Ensure security, vulnerability remediation, patching, audit readiness, governance, and regulatory compliance
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team; conduct performance management, talent reviews, hiring, succession planning, and engagement activities
- Serve as the primary escalation point and communicate platform health, risks, modernization initiatives, and priorities to senior leadership
- Manage vendors, platform budgets, software licensing, infrastructure consumption, cost optimization, growth forecasts, and capacity requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise middleware and infrastructure platforms
- 4+ years of leadership experience managing technology teams
- Strong expertise in enterprise middleware technologies and cloud-native platforms
- Experience leading large-scale operational support and modernization initiatives
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Expertise with Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, Microsoft IIS, IBM WebSphere Application Server, and Red Hat JBoss
- Experience with Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Docker, Helm Charts, Kubernetes Ingress and Networking, container security, and observability
- Experience with Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD pipeline engineering, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Bash Shell Scripting, and PowerShell
- Knowledge of AWS EC2, AWS EKS, VPC Networking, IAM/RBAC, AWS Load Balancers, and CloudWatch
- Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Amazon Linux, and Microsoft Windows Server
- Knowledge of ServiceNow, incident management, problem management, change management, release management, and ITIL Framework
- Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect Associate or higher
- Preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or CKAD
- Preferred: Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes Certification
- Preferred: ITIL Foundation Certification
- Preferred experience with enterprise-scale cloud migration and platform modernization programs
- Preferred experience supporting regulated and highly available environments
