About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan programs, provide curricular resources and technical assistance, and assess program effectiveness for students with exceptional needs across all Amethod schools
- Ensure best practices in pre-referral behavioral interventions, positive behavioral interventions, and behavioral support and intervention plans
- Provide leadership in curriculum, instruction, and modifications/accommodations for students with diverse learning needs
- Participate in and provide professional development and training for Special Education team members
- Assume responsibility for appropriate identification, educational programming, and services for special education students
- Support data-driven decision-making and accountability to improve instruction and ensure student progress
- Ensure due process requirements and ongoing monitoring for IEP development and IDEA compliance
- Participate in evaluation of Education Specialists and Paraprofessionals and support Principals in supervision of special education team members
- Manage complex cases, including attending staffing meetings, IEP meetings, and parent conferences
- Apply conflict-resolution strategies with parents and educational partners to resolve IEP-related disputes
- Assist in network-wide professional development, onboarding, program design, and redesign
- Assist in recruiting and screening special education staff
- Conduct class observations and monitor behavioral RTI data
- Support teacher in-service and professional development at each school site
- Provide administrative support for SELPA functions, including contract documentation, invoice reconciliation, reporting to the California Department of Education, IEP compliance monitoring, and special education transportation
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Clear CA Education Specialist Credential and CLAD certification required OR CA Related Service Provider Credential/License (School Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.)
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in special education leadership
- Proven successful teaching or related service experience in Special Education
- Broad understanding of the MTSS/RTI structure as it relates to school reform
- Ability to use data for decision-making regarding student needs
- Ability to support professional development in all aspects of intervention methods for academic and behavioral needs
- Ability to work in a high demand environment
- CPI certification desired
- Bilingual- Spanish desired
- Knowledge of current IDEA and Amethod policy and procedures
