About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide multi-discipline support and coordination on projects through all RIBA stages
- Lead project delivery at detailed design stage
- Ensure governance processes are followed and provide technical assurance
- Coordinate activities between disciplines
- Manage or complete design and specification processes through tender document production
- Deliver design packages through Planning and Building Regulation approval processes
- Review building condition surveys and establish project categorisation and approach
- Prepare designs, schedules of work and specifications
- Manage design information and coordinate input from other disciplines and external providers
- Provide or assess initial budget cost information and contribute to programme development
- Assess requirements for and prepare CDM design risk assessments
- Support the design process in accordance with the Integrated Management System
- Obtain client sign-offs, authority approvals and statutory consents
- Prepare tender document packages, including Pre Construction Information packages
- Create building designs and detailed drawings using CAD applications
- Liaise with construction professionals and contractors
- Address town planning, environmental impact and budget constraints
- Adapt plans and resolve problems during project delivery
- Travel regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in various design applications including AutoCAD, Revit, Micro-Station, SketchUp and BIM
- Experience delivering projects under various Contract Forms and Conditions, including Design and Build
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, H&S and other legislation
- Demonstrable post-graduate/training experience in various design environments, including Commercial, Transport, Education and Government (MOD/MOJ)
- Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS Office suite
- Fully conversant in remote communication systems such as Microsoft Teams
- Understanding of H&S legislation and particularly CDM Regulations
- Ability to obtain MOD Baseline Security Clearance and MOJ clearance
- Experience delivering projects within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments valued
- Experience working on nuclear licensed sites, knowledge of nuclear safety culture, and familiarity with relevant regulatory and assurance frameworks valued
- Applicants holding, or working towards, NSQEP recognition encouraged to apply
- Member of CIAT desirable
- Experience using NBS and other relevant design/CA software desirable
- Experience using Bentley MicroStation desirable
- Experience in the Rail or light Rail sector desirable
- Experience using ProjectWise desirable
