About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Have primary responsibility for regional sales activities and results
  • Lead a sales force through District Sales Managers
  • Achieve or exceed sales goals by setting the strategic vision for the region
  • Coach, motivate, hire and retain the right people and hold them accountable for delivering results
  • Set strategic direction and vision by translating and aligning brand strategies with overall team direction
  • Leverage and partner with Amgen’s internal and external resources to remove barriers impacting team success
  • Serve as key interface with senior sales management and marketing
  • Manage District Managers to maximize performance and conduct business in line with Amgen’s compliance and Business Conduct Standards
  • Set and maintain high standards and accountability for regional staff
  • Provide professional staff development and succession planning
  • Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews and competency assessments
  • Implement corrective counseling when necessary
  • Communicate business issues and opportunities to senior management
  • Participate in brand strategic planning and vision setting
  • Assist in policy formulation and interpret policies and programs for direct reports
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers in person and virtually

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctorate degree & 4 years Sales/Marketing experience OR Master’s degree & 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience OR Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of Sales/Marketing experience
  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Preferred: 10+ years of pharmaceutical / biotech product sales experience including 5+ years sales management experience
  • Preferred: Senior Sales Management experience
  • Preferred: Advanced degree
  • Preferred: Home office and/or marketing experience
  • Preferred: Experience in biologics
  • Adaptability with RSD competencies, including strategic thinking, coaching and developing others, leading through change, establishing high standards, communicating with impact, motivating and energizing others, and leveraging business, industry and technical knowledge
  • Travel to locations such as doctor’s offices, clinics and hospitals is required
  • Sponsorship for this role is not guaranteed
