About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Research Data Enablement Hub and own execution of the Research Data Domain Strategy
- Establish and drive the data strategy for Research
- Translate Research and enterprise strategy into a Research Data Domain vision, priorities, roadmap, and measurable outcomes
- Represent the Research Data Domain in enterprise governance and strategy forums
- Provide accountability for Research domain data assets and data products, including ownership, governance, usage rules, protection, quality, and lifecycle management
- Drive adoption of data governance, stewardship, FAIR data maturity, and data standards across Research
- Ensure data risks, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements are managed with appropriate stakeholders
- Approve and prioritize the Research Data Domain data product portfolio
- Support AI, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives through high-quality, governed, AI-ready Research data
- Lead and resolve cross-subdomain decisions involving data ownership, priorities, standards, quality, reuse, and investment
- Partner with R&D Tech, EDSE, business, privacy, security, and compliance teams
- Build alignment across senior stakeholders and drive timely decisions with collective accountability
- Lead through influence across Subdomain Leads, Data Champions, and Data Stewards
- Drive sustained adoption of governance routines, standards, and operating behaviors across Research
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctorate degree in a relevant field and 5 years of significant relevant experience, OR Master’s degree in a relevant field and 9 years of significant relevant experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 11 years of significant relevant experience
- At least 5 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources
- Deep understanding of the drug discovery and preclinical development process
- Deep understanding of one data type common in Research, such as genetics, biologics, small molecule, or assay
- Broad knowledge of major data types, data subdomains, and data flows across Research
- Experience balancing trade-offs across scientific value, enterprise reuse, risk, cost, and budget
- Scientific data fluency and ability to translate between scientific objectives, Research data needs, enterprise reuse, and measurable business value
- Proven track record of driving sustained adoption and organizational change
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and strong networks across organizational boundaries
- Positive, pragmatic, and action-oriented leadership style with resilience and judgment through ambiguity, competing priorities, and organizational change
- Demonstrated ability to challenge constructively, deliver difficult messages, and make firm prioritization decisions
