About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist students with feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, and other self-help skills
- Support student mobility and safe movement throughout the school campus
- Transport assistive technology devices and student materials as needed
- Support classroom activities, reading, and curriculum-related tasks under teacher guidance
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce special education material
- Accompany students to the school office, nurse, and other areas as needed
- Build supportive, professional relationships that encourage student independence and success
- Participate in student support meetings and in-service training programs
- Perform additional classroom duties and assignments to support an effective and safe learning environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree, OR at least 48 semester hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, OR successful completion of the Alabama State Board of Education-approved WorkKeys test
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- School-based experience preferred, not required
- Full-time availability, Monday–Friday
- Ability to support students with academic, mobility, personal care, and self-help needs
