About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build AI and ML solutions that unlock AMT business data and solve business processes, such as finding information in documents, analyzing projects, and forecasting
- Extract and structure data from unstructured sources, including proposals, specifications, contracts, and project records
- Develop and maintain data pipelines connecting business systems, including ERP, helpdesk, CAD/GIS, and Microsoft 365
- Evaluate AI tools and vendors with the AI Steering Committee
- Apply security and data governance standards to all solutions in support of compliance programs
- Explain findings clearly to engineers, project managers, and executives
- Work as AMT’s first Data Scientist on the Technology team, reporting to the Director of Technology
- Help shape AMT’s AI strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- A foundation in machine learning and statistics
- Hands-on project work with LLMs, data pipelines, or analytics; class, research, internship, or personal projects all count
- Ability to explain technical work in plain language
- Preferred: Experience with LLM frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic workflows
- Preferred: Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms, Docker, or APIs
- Preferred: Experience with Power BI or other visualization tools
- Preferred: Interest in engineering, infrastructure, or GIS data
