About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve in a lead technical role on bridge or structural design projects
- Plan, direct, and monitor mid-to-large multidisciplinary projects or technically complex medium-sized bridge projects
- Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contractual document work sessions
- Ensure project deliverables and supporting documentation are complete and compliant with applicable standards and client and AMT requirements
- Coordinate staffing and workload throughout project development to complete documents on schedule
- Work with the Business/Accounting Manager and Discipline/Managing Director on project reviews
- Implement QA/QC procedures and review bridge plans
- Execute training and development for personnel
- Mentor and supervise less experienced Project Managers
- Maintain professional engineering registration
- Manage tasks and projects, mentor junior staff, and lead teams designing highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, load ratings, and related structures
- Support structural transportation projects for state DOTs, county, municipal, and private clients
- Participate in interoffice staff utilization projects in other states
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- 10+ years of project and client management experience with significant project experience and client contacts
- Experience with MS Office
- Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills
- Good communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills
- Excellent organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to perform hands-on bridge condition inspection and comfort with heights
- Desired proficiency in LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LARSA 4D, LPile, MDX, Descus, AASHTOWare BrR, Merlin DASH, spColumn, PennDOT software packages, Bentley MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads/Bridge software
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Ability and willingness to travel as required, including occasional weekly travel
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
- Ability to use standard office equipment
- Ability to navigate unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment
- Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather
