About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead research strategy and execution for a product domain at Ancestry
  • Own end-to-end research roadmaps for key product spaces
  • Identify unaddressed user needs and connect research objectives to domain success metrics
  • Drive generative and exploratory research during early product discovery
  • Analyze problem spaces, uncover unmet user needs, and define product direction
  • Lead or delegate tactical research such as usability testing and concept validation
  • Design and execute qualitative studies including interviews, usability testing, and diary studies
  • Design and execute quantitative studies including surveys, card sorts, and tree tests
  • Triangulate research findings with product analytics, behavioral data, member services and social feedback, and external trend sources
  • Incorporate AI into research workflows and experiment with emerging tools and methodologies
  • Partner strategically with Product, Design, and Engineering leads to co-own domain strategy
  • Challenge product assumptions and shape feature roadmaps

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of UX research experience
  • Experience embedded in cross-functional software development teams delivering large-scale consumer applications (ideally)
  • Proven ability to work in ambiguous environments and create structured, actionable research plans
  • Mixed methods research expertise, including qualitative and quantitative research execution
  • Experience triangulating behavioral data, member services and social feedback, and external trend sources
  • Practical experience incorporating AI into research workflows
  • Expertise selecting rapid usability checks versus foundational, longitudinal studies based on project risk and timeline constraints
  • Strong product analytics fluency
  • Experience partnering with analytics to validate qualitative hypotheses using behavioral data
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Marketing leads
  • Successful background check required for employment
