About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership and expertise to drive best-in-class environmental performance
  • Partner with corporate and facility leadership to establish strategy and advance a culture of environmental excellence
  • Create, implement and monitor environmental strategies to promote sustainable development
  • Carry out environmental audits and assessments
  • Identify and resolve environmental compliance problems
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and programs for local, state and federal regulatory compliance
  • Instruct plant EHS managers on consistent application of environmental policies and procedures
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments and recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risks
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Monitor compliance through internal document reviews and on-site inspections
  • Investigate complaints alleging environmental regulatory violations and take corrective action
  • Educate employees on environmental regulations and waste and pollution reduction practices
  • Collaborate with departments to minimize operational environmental impact
  • Manage environmental management systems
  • Oversee hazardous waste disposal and storage in accordance with regulations
  • Negotiate with regulatory agencies on behalf of the company
  • Serve as company liaison with environmental interest groups
  • Stay current on environmental science and technology developments
  • Advise SLT on optimal environmental management recommendations
  • Partner with the engineering services manager on preventive maintenance for equipment contributing to the environmental footprint
  • Establish and maintain a companywide recycling system
  • Partner with stakeholders to achieve EcoVadis Gold status

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental (preferred) or related field (natural sciences, engineering, chemistry, or similar)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in the Environmental field with increasing responsibility leading and directing teams
  • 1-3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Professional environmental certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated success in improving environmental performance and establishing best practices
  • Proven examples of effective communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills
  • Experience managing Corporate Environmental programs
  • Passion and drive for environmental
  • Strong self-motivation skills, with proven ability to successfully work independently
  • Knowledge of air, waste, water and spill regulations in Oklahoma, Minnesota, Indiana, and New York preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations
  • Experience with CEMS and COMS systems preferred
  • Experience with Title V air permits preferred
  • Ability to travel 50% to all four plant locations
