About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own website UI design from concept to launch
  • Lead interface design across projects with little oversight
  • Translate brand identity, UX flows and content into high-fidelity, build-ready desktop and mobile designs
  • Build accessible designs incorporating WCAG 2.2 AA from the first artboard
  • Design homepages, landing pages, navigation, footers and page templates
  • Art-direct photography, layout rhythm and motion for real content
  • Build page templates, modular content blocks and component libraries across breakpoints
  • Document typography, color, spacing and motion as design tokens
  • Account for every state, variant and redline
  • Build high-fidelity prototypes of key pages and interactions
  • Obtain stakeholder sign-off before development
  • Deliver organized, documented Figma files and implementation-ready specifications
  • Work with developers through build and QA to ensure finished sites match the designs
  • Serve as UI lead on projects and make decisions grounded in user needs, business goals, accessibility and feasibility
  • Scope design work to budgets and timelines and identify risks early
  • Contribute to design systems, documentation and reviews
  • Share knowledge with Experience and Creative teams
  • Use AI tools across exploration, documentation and QA and help the team build AI fluency
  • Report to the VP of Experience
  • Design websites and eCommerce sites for brands across consumer goods, healthcare, financial services, hospitality and retail

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years designing websites, including several full sites taken from concept through launch
  • Agency or studio experience strongly preferred
  • Portfolio of live, shipped websites
  • Strong typography, color, layout, hierarchy and motion fundamentals
  • Experience building website design systems and component libraries
  • Strong grasp of usability and WCAG 2.2 AA
  • Fluent in Figma and collaborative design workflows
  • Comfortable working with developers through build and QA
  • Solid understanding of front-end fundamentals and how a CMS shapes design
  • Experience with Shopify or eCommerce is a plus
  • Experience designing for headless or enterprise CMS handoffs is a plus
  • Ability to scope work to budget, juggle several projects, communicate early and own outcomes
  • Collaborative, curious, low-ego approach
  • Website design experience rather than primarily app or SaaS product design
  • Northeast-based ideally; New England or the wider Northeast is a big plus
