About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop software as a Lead Engineer in a commercial development team
- Use Java, JavaScript and a range of tools and frameworks across the stack
- Apply agile methodologies in commercial development
- Consider clients’ wider business concerns when making technical decisions
- Implement and maintain architecture, DevOps, performance and security practices
- Apply engineering best practices including TDD, SOLID and XP
- Mentor junior engineers and support Squad Leads
- Provide technical guidance as the most senior engineer on a project
- Ensure development teams achieve project goals and maintain quality standards
- Work with CI/CD practices and deployments
- Write effective documentation and share knowledge
- Collaborate with clients, teammates and multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technology challenges
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience in Java
- Comfortable with TDD (test-driven development)
- Proven development experience working as a Lead Engineer in a commercial development team
- Expert understanding of Java and JavaScript
- Wider experience with different tools and frameworks across the stack
- Commercial experience working with agile methodologies
- Ability to consider clients’ wider business concerns when making technical decisions
- Experience implementing architecture, DevOps, performance or security
- Understanding and ownership of best practices, such as TDD, SOLID and XP
- Comfortable mentoring junior engineers and supporting Squad Leads
- Ability to provide technical guidance as the most senior engineer on a project
- Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and deployments
- Experience writing effective documentation and sharing knowledge
