About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop visually pleasing and accurate data visualizations, reports, and dashboards for a federal government customer
Collaborate with teams in the advanced development of rich data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI
Elicit stakeholder requirements in an agile and iterative environment
Construct visually pleasing, rich data visualizations using business intelligence and data analytics experience
Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards using industry best practices and standards
Translate business requirements and rules into intuitive analytical solutions, business scorecards, and management dashboards
Visualize data from multiple sources in a single platform to support complex business solutions
Provide operational support for existing Power BI dashboards and reports
Understand reporting database models and schemas and perform data analysis
Connect to various data sources and import and transform data into Power BI
Collaborate on Power BI solutioning, performance tuning, issue diagnosis, and resolution of application bottlenecks
Create written and visual data reports and analysis
Provide end-user training, technical demonstrations, and stakeholder presentations

Requirements

What you’ll need

8 or more years of experience creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations
5 or more years specifically using Microsoft Power BI
Experience ingesting information, transforming data, and building relationships with data from various feeds
Experience presenting dashboards and quantitative data to stakeholders and leadership
Comprehensive experience with relational database architecture and navigating large datasets
Experience querying and extracting data from Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, SharePoint lists, Excel spreadsheets, and third-party connectors
Experience writing SQL queries against relational databases
Experience with SSRS and Power BI Report Builder
Experience with data modeling, cleansing, and transformation using Power BI, SQL, Power Query, R, Python, or similar tools
Experience using TOAD or Visual Studio Code to query and extract data from Oracle databases
Expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting Power BI-driven reporting ecosystems, including query tuning and performance optimization
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, relationship-building, written communication, and verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities or tasks
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years' experience
U.S. citizenship required
Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Position of Trust background security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information
Technical certifications related to Microsoft Power BI, database design, or data analysis (preferred)
Knowledge of Tableau or broader Microsoft Power Platform experience, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dataverse (preferred)
Must be within a commutable distance to the Washington, DC metro area
