About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the multi-team engineering organization across customer and driver apps, backend platforms, and operations tools
  • Spearhead the transition to an AI-native organization
  • Build robust, highly available, self-healing mission-critical services at scale

  • Establish a culture of ownership and align teams around clear goals and metrics
  • Partner with Product to shape features and sharpen scope
  • Ensure scalable, well-architected, reusable-platform solutions
  • Keep delivery commitments predictable, rescue drifting projects, and make releases safe
  • Quality-gate architecture and designs for scalability, security, and cost before CTO review
  • Provide senior technical direction across squads
  • Establish delivery and reliability metrics, identify bottlenecks, and improve engineering velocity and stability
  • Use AI to improve developer experience and reduce friction and toil in building, reviewing, shipping, and operating systems
  • Drive measurable gains in speed, quality, and system health

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 12+ years in software engineering
  • 3+ years leading multi-team engineering organizations
  • Real ownership of OKRs, performance management, hiring, and turning around delivery
  • Experience leading engineering for a mature, consumer-facing product with a large user base
  • Track record leading incident response and reliability improvements on high-traffic, real-time systems
  • SRE mindset and culture, including SLOs, error budgets, blameless postmortems, and automation over toil
  • Secure coding, mobile app security, and data privacy knowledge
  • Ability to weigh cloud and engineering costs in technical trade-offs
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of databases, Kubernetes, GCP, Redis, and Kafka
  • Hands-on technical experience
  • Experience using AI and driving its adoption across an organization, with measurable results
  • Ability to explain complex systems simply and communicate technical vision and architecture to engineers, peers, and executives
  • Ability to align stakeholders around clear trade-offs
  • Experience with Go, Flutter, React, Kafka, Redis, Postgres, Kubernetes, and GCP
