About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete pre-registration and full registration for families as needed
- Ensure eligibility information is accurate
- Obtain patient/family consents, HIPAA, state and federal mandatory forms, Plain Language Summary, and additional forms; enter them into Epic
- Query MyChart and Care Everywhere and use EpicCare Link as appropriate
- Check referrals and assist families with same-day service referrals when possible
- Inform and collect payments including estimates, copays, outstanding balances, and self-pay amounts via CCF and HealthFusion where applicable
- Copy insurance cards as appropriate
- Provide intake forms and instructions; print clinical labels and documents for scanning
- Provide ID bands to patients as appropriate
- Inform patients and families of wait times or service delays
- Schedule new, return, same-day, and ancillary appointments
- Enter patient information into additional electronic systems as required
- Adhere to organizational Power All principles and maintain confidentiality
- Complete checkout procedures and prepare forms for distribution
- Coordinate activities with Patient Service Representatives and department team members
- Enter or release outpatient lab orders and maintain written orders for scanning
- Follow Medical Imaging check-in, order, payment estimate, and scheduling processes
- Follow Optime workflow for outpatient surgery admissions and collect copayments or deductibles
- Answer department backline and patient phone lines
- Create recalls and waitlist notifications
- Complete daily no-show documentation and communicate with families to reschedule
- Document and send patient messages to providers via Epic in-basket
- Perform other assigned job functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED required
- Some knowledge of medical terminology, third party billing, and managed care requirements strongly preferred
- Some knowledge of electronic medical records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word applications such as Outlook and other computer skills preferred
- High level of customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication/listening skills
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage stressful situations appropriately
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA rules
