About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide park guests with excellent customer service and information regarding public safety and protection of Parks Department properties and natural resources
  • Oversee and assist park service, campground, gatehouse, and other park operations
  • Greet guests, provide supplies, open and close facilities, and replenish funds for park facilities
  • Assist operations at visitor centers, gatehouses, cross-country skiing facilities, and campgrounds
  • Respond to daily operational problems and concerns
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or contact the supervisor for assistance
  • Respond to emergency situations including severe weather, medical, and other incidents
  • Receive, mediate, and resolve customer complaints or concerns
  • Travel between various regional park work sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Successfully pass a criminal history and driver’s license background check
  • Successfully pass required pre-employment criminal/driving background check, drug screen, DOT physical, and/or other qualification checks
  • Ability to work 25–40 hours per week, including varied days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills preferred
  • Ability to analyze situations and determine the best course of action preferred
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to perform bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, prolonged walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment
  • Ability to regularly lift 0–25 lbs.
  • Ability to use computers, phones, radio devices, standard office equipment, pickup trucks, and UTVs
  • Ability to drive between work sites using a county vehicle and/or personal vehicle
