About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee Real Estate, Facilities & Maintenance, Security, EH&S, IT Administration, Lab Operations, and Workplace
  • Lead day-to-day facility operations, upkeep, and maintenance for a multi-site business with extensive lab and manufacturing scope
  • Manage security for a 24/7 DEA-licensed controlled-substance manufacturing facility
  • Direct facility development, construction, alterations, architectural design development, contractor selection, project management, and project budgets
  • Plan, budget, and execute equipment and facility-related capital projects
  • Evaluate and prioritize facilities projects by creating budgets and timelines
  • Manage critical vendor and contractor relationships across all sites
  • Support day-to-day lab operations across sites
  • Prepare and manage department budgets covering space utilization, furniture, capital and leasehold items, maintenance, workplace services, EH&S, and IT
  • Negotiate lease agreements and act as primary landlord contact
  • Oversee facilities maintenance activities and budgets across all sites
  • Lead auditing and inspection programs
  • Provide site reporting for company and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee occupational and industrial safety and risk management
  • Benchmark technology and implement necessary site improvements
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DEA, EPA, and FDA/regulatory agencies
  • Enhance hardware and software tools while managing a tight budget
  • Communicate project timelines and hold teams accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Set priorities for site improvement projects and activities
  • Ensure uninterrupted 24/7 facilities operations and security
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related fields are preferred
  • Professional registration and/or certifications as appropriate
  • Minimum 8 years of facilities experience
  • 5 years of management experience
  • Experience preferably in Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Chemical Industry
  • Broad experience including facilities, utilities, project management, construction management, and service contract management
  • Experience working with appropriate government agencies for permitting and approval of complex projects required
  • Direct experience with FDA and DEA is a plus
  • Strong leadership, practical facilities, safety and environmental knowledge
  • Proven track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control, and customer satisfaction
  • Technical proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, CMMS, and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to develop and execute roadmaps, milestones, detailed implementation plans, and KPIs
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with all Company functional areas
  • Strong financial acumen, including detailed cost analyses, budget management, make-versus-buy analysis, and cost reduction identification
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
