About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Anthropic's on-the-ground presence in communities where its data centers are sited, built, and operated
- Build and maintain relationships with county and municipal officials, economic development organizations, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners
- Develop and execute community engagement strategies across site selection, pre-development, construction, and ongoing operations
- Build external coalitions, host education and listening sessions, and design local community solutions
- Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media
- Monitor community sentiment and local political dynamics; advise internal teams on risks, opportunities, and engagement posture
- Partner with Real Estate, Infrastructure, Communications, Energy, and Sustainability teams
- Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, and economic development commitments, including nonprofit partner relationships
- Explain Anthropic's environmental stewardship approach and respond to questions about power, water, and land use
- Build a scalable community engagement playbook and repeatable processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or state government, or a closely related field
- Direct experience working for or engaging with county and municipal governments and community stakeholders on behalf of large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects
- Working understanding of local politics and community dynamics
- Ability to build relationships and coalitions with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to represent a company in town halls, hearings, and press interviews
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex operational plans in plain language
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent engagements across different markets
- Based in Indiana or Kentucky, or willing to relocate to one of them
- Prepared to travel regularly across Indiana and Kentucky
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
- Visa sponsorship may be available
