About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and specify physical security systems for data center sites, including perimeter and vehicle barriers, intrusion detection, video, security lighting, and protected penetrations and utility entry points
- Write performance requirements and verification methods for each security control
- Review site designs at each stage and provide actionable redlines
- Test field-installed systems and re-verify post-acceptance changes
- Own and maintain Anthropic's physical security reference design package, including typical details, reference drawings, schedules, and test procedures
- Set the technical position for each site, determine applicable requirements, and engineer and document compensating controls
- Collaborate with Data Center Security Engineering, design, construction, and real estate teams, and vendors
- Define engineering and operational requirements for security operations control rooms
- Set control room acceptance criteria and accept or reject delivered systems
- Participate in regular data center site travel and an on-call rotation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Designed or specified physical security systems for campus-scale sites, including perimeter barriers, intrusion detection, video, and security lighting
- Read and produce construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar standard design and markup tools
- Write testable performance requirements specifying verification methods and evidence
- Run commissioning and acceptance tests against performance criteria and reject non-conforming work
- Derive requirements from a threat basis and identify vulnerabilities
- Owned an engineering domain, set its approach, determined site applicability, worked directly with vendors, and was accountable for results
- Experience with construction documents through construction and acceptance testing preferred
- Experience engineering security scopes for colocation or partner-delivered facilities preferred
- Working knowledge of standards for standoff, hostile vehicle mitigation, and intrusion detection zoning preferred
- Photometric and video quality measurement experience preferred
- Control room, AV, or network design experience preferred
- Experience using AI-assisted tooling for drafting and review preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
