About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, prioritize and pursue state electrification, industrial and decarbonization policies across multiple states
- Lead engagement with state energy, storage, large load industrial and decarbonization policies
- Develop and execute state political strategy in project siting states
- Build relationships with governors' offices, legislators and local officials, local coalitions, and legislative stakeholders
- Pursue state and local project incentives and lead SALT strategy for favorable tax treatment
- Support project development on permitting, siting rules and tax treatment
- Select, direct and manage outside lobbyists and consultants
- Own travel and engagement plans across priority states
- Track and support effective state policy on large load additions
- Coordinate with grid/wholesale market policy and federal policy colleagues
- Support US supply chain policy work
- Translate Antora's technology and project economics for regulators, legislators and coalition partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5–10+ years of experience in state energy policy, government affairs or regulatory advocacy
- Experience working across several states, prioritizing among them, managing travel and directing lobbyists
- Demonstrated ownership of a complex state policy outcome
- Strong external presence and comfort representing the company with regulators, legislators and coalitions
- Experience working with and managing outside lobbyists in multiple states
- Mission fit with Antora's work
- Direct experience with clean fuel standards / low carbon fuel standards, renewable energy accounting or RECs
- Familiarity with interconnection, storage, large load additions, and state tax and permitting treatment of batteries and industrial equipment
- Experience and credibility working across the political spectrum
- Working knowledge of federal incentives that interact with state programs
- Experience collaborating with commercial and analytical teams on the economics behind a policy ask
- People-management experience is not required
