About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and transform the Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management ecosystem
Improve configurations, workflows, permissions, integrations and platform governance
Standardise scalable workflows across Engineering, Product, Platform and QA
Build Jira integrations with GitLab, Slack, CI/CD tooling and other systems
Oversee access controls, configuration standards, documentation and audit trails
Drive platform adoption through troubleshooting, documentation, training and self-service capabilities
Strengthen delivery planning, tracking, reporting and governance
Develop dashboards and reporting for DORA metrics, cycle time, throughput, sprint predictability, bottlenecks and defect trends
Coordinate release readiness, including defects, testing, dependencies, risks and milestones
Track initiatives, milestones, dependencies and risks across cross-functional teams
Improve incident tracking, escalation, root-cause analysis and corrective actions
Partner with the CTO on technology priorities, team reviews, decisions, commitments and executive/board reporting
Identify operational challenges and improve predictability, accountability and execution
Build intelligent automation, integrations and internal tools using APIs, scripting, automation platforms and AI-assisted development
Implement AI agents, intelligent reporting, ticket triage and knowledge retrieval solutions
Improve documentation, knowledge sharing and AI-assisted search
Evaluate emerging AI and automation capabilities for secure, maintainable and measurable solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience in technology operations, technical delivery management, engineering operations or a similar role within a software engineering environment
Hands-on expertise administering and improving Jira, including workflows, schemes, permissions, automation, dashboards and integrations
Understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, SDLC, engineering delivery processes, release management and delivery governance
Experience coordinating technical initiatives, managing dependencies, identifying delivery risks and improving accountability across engineering teams
Familiarity with engineering performance metrics, including DORA, cycle time, throughput, defect trends and delivery predictability
Practical experience with AI-assisted development, workflow automation, APIs or scripting
Comfortable working with Confluence, Jira Service Management, GitHub, Slack and modern engineering tooling
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, translating operational data into actionable reporting and recommendations
Experience partnering with CTOs, Engineering leaders and senior stakeholders
Proactive, hands-on approach balancing platform administration, operational delivery and improvement initiatives
Excellent communication and organisational skills across distributed, cross-functional teams
Atlassian certifications or Jira Cloud, REST APIs, ScriptRunner, Forge or Rovo experience are nice to have
Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, n8n or similar automation tools are nice to have
Experience with AI-powered internal tools, LLM integrations or agentic workflows is nice to have
FinTech, SaaS or scale-up experience and exposure to PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 are nice to have
